Privacy NoticeAs Prince William and Prince Harry’s brotherly rift rages on, friends of the Prince of Wales have claimed that, when the day comes, he won’t be inviting his younger brother to his coronation. Furthermore, the friends claimed that the way things stand, they next expect the two brothers to meet in person at their father, King Charles’ funeral. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has spoken out on the rumours in an exclusive chat with OK!. On the rumours of William not inviting Prince Harry to his coronation, one pal told The Daily Beast: “I believe it 100 percent. Why would William and Kate want all the distraction and circus that his presence would bring? I suspect that William will see Harry one more time in his life in the flesh — at their father’s funeral.” A former Buckingham Palace staff member also claimed to the publication that ““Planning for William’s coronation is well underway, and as I understand it there are no plans to invite Harry,” saying it is ‘hardly surprising’.

Addressing the circulating rumours, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “I agree that the rift between William and Harry looks unbridgeable. I don’t think William wastes any of his life thinking about his brother, though we know that Harry has said he would like to have some kind of reconciliation. “But this would presumably be on his own terms,” Jennie continued. “You can only go to a coronation if you are invited and, at this stage, I suspect Harry would not be invited. However, that day is hopefully someway away and it’s possible that William’s attitude may have softened somewhat by then,” although Jennie adds she ‘wouldn’t hold her breath’.

“William has far too much to concern himself with at the moment: his father‘s illness, his wife’s illness, and three young children to nurture. Not to mention his important role as Prince of Wales. I agree it would be unthinkable that Harry would not be at his own father‘s funeral. We have seen how he can attend state occasions without interacting with his family. Only time will tell whether that will still be the case when the day comes.” Prince Harry stepped down from royal duties in January 2020, as himself, his wife Meghan Markle and their son Prince Archie moved across the Atlantic. During their time in the States, the couple sat down for a ‘tell all interview’ with Oprah, as well as releasing their Netflix series. In 2023, the Duke released his bombshell memoir, Spare, which is said to have strained his relationship with his family, especially Prince William, even further. Since his decision to leave the royal family, Harry has only returned to the UK a handful of times, with his children only returning once, for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. As their youngest, Princess Lilibet, was born in the United States, it’s thought this is the only time her grandfather, King Charles has met her.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
