Privacy NoticeRoslyn Markle claimed that “distance” was the primary reason for her stepdaughter Meghan drifting apart from some family members. Prince Harry sparked outrage among Meghan’s relatives back in 2017, when he suggested in a BBC Radio 4 interview that the royals were “the family she never had”. The comments came after Meghan spent Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham in Norfolk, England. In response, Meghan’s brother, Thomas Markle Jr, defended his sister, stating that she “had a really good family” and “got everything she ever wanted”. But Roslyn, the former wife of Meghan’s father – who she was married in the 1960s – gave her take on Meghan’s relationship with her family in an interview with Radar Online back in 2017, reports the Daily Star.

And for some, it wasn’t the reason they were expecting – as Roslyn said it wasn’t a family rift that was to blame. “It’s not tension. It’s distance,” she explained. “When Meghan graduated from high school, she went to Northwestern which is up in Illinois. And when she finished that, she worked in Argentina. Then she started Suits and she started her acting career. It was the scenario that everyone got busy, and the distance was always a factor.” Rosyln, who is in her late 70s, insisted that Meghan didn’t “shut out” her family, but admitted that she “didn’t talk too much” with her estranged sister, Samantha Grant. But Samantha, who had stated that Meghan had a “large family” who was “always there for her”, dismissed Roslyn’s claims on Twitter. In a series of fiery tweets at the time, Samantha labelled Roslyn as “no relation” of Meghan and accused her of being “crazy” for commenting. She penned: “FYI I read online said that Roslyn Markle was Meghan’s stepmom LOL my dad divorced Roslyn in 74… she remarried… no relation to Meg ever and she knows nothing about our lives or Meghan! In a follow-up tweet, she added: “Roslyn only knows Meg from what she has studied about her in the media LOL.”

Meanwhile, a source recently explained to OK! that Meghan ‘wants her old life back’, while being ‘frustrated’ Harry is ‘wasting his own life’. She gave up her life in Toronto after getting engaged to Prince Harry. However, according to the source, Meghan has learned the hard way that being a duchess isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.
