Privacy NoticeZara Tindall has given a rare TV interview, sharing her “hopes and dreams” as she appears in a new ITV documentary about the final day of the Cheltenham Festival. As the niece of King Charles, Zara, 43, provides insight into one of the UK’s most highly anticipated horse racing events. In ITV’s Champions: Full Gallop, Zara discusses the significance of the Cheltenham Festival, which takes place every March. In a clip from the documentary, Zara tells the interviewer, “There’s a lot of hopes. There’s a lot of dreams people want to grab. Everyone wants to have a win at Cheltenham, and Gold Cup is obviously the biggest.” Zara also confesses that watching the competition can be more nerve-wracking than participating, saying, “I think it’s worse watching than riding, 100 per cent because you’ve got no control over it, and you sit back and let them get on with it.” The daughter of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips and the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, Zara’s passion of horse riding and ambition was passed down through her family. She is a former world eventing champion and has had a successful career in the field, reports the Express. In 2012, she became the first member of the Royal Family to win an Olympic medal as part of Team GB. Sign up to OK’s royal newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Throughout her career, Zara has regularly attended equestrian events worldwide, both as a competitor and as a spectator. Her achievements include a gold medal at the European Eventing Championships in 2005 and a silver at the World Equestrian Games in 2006. She has previously been crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year and earned the nickname ‘Royal Olympian.’ Zara has been married to former rugby union player Mike Tindall since 2011, and the couple share three children: Mia Grace, 10, Lena Elizabeth, six, and Lucas Phillip, who is three. Zara is also godmother to Prince William’s son, George. She’s not the only one in her family with a knack for horse riding. The love for horses runs deep in the Royal family, with both the late Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Anne learning to ride from a young age. The upcoming show, Champions: Full Gallop, is being touted as horse racing’s answer to Drive to Survive, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the popular sport.
