Privacy NoticeZara Tindall opened up about feeling “lucky” for not having a royal title during her upbringing, while chatting with her husband Mike on a podcast. The Gloucestershire-based couple, who reside on Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate, have been quite candid about their royal life experiences, especially after Mike’s stint in the Aussie jungle on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… However, last year Zara, 43, appeared somewhat taken aback on the Total Sport podcast hosted by ex-rugby star Rob Burrow – who sadly died in June – when Rob quizzed them on what wisdom they’d impart to their younger selves. During the conversation, Zara praised her mother, Princess Anne, for her decision to forego titles for her and her brother Peter, saying: “From my point of view, I was obviously very lucky that my mother didn’t give us any titles so I really commend her on that.”

She continued to reflect on her unique position within the Royal Family, noting in a revealing statement she was ‘lucky’ that “we got to do it a bit our own way.” She continued: “My family has a great work ethic as well which I’m hoping they instilled in me and is still going to this day.” Zara shared heartwarming insights into her royal upbringing, noting: “Hopefully, we can pass it onto our kids. Now, my brother and my cousins love to go back and do the same things and I hope that our children have the same experiences that we did when we were growing up. You don’t really appreciate that until you’re older and you’ve got kids,” reports Gloucestershire Live. She also admitted she’d advise her younger self to “work harder at school and listen a bit more.” Sign up to OK!’s royal newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free Princess Anne championed normalcy for her offspring when Peter was born in 1977, choosing with then-husband Mark Philips to forego royal titles for their kids. The podcast episode took a cheeky turn as Mike Tindall ended up “in so much trouble” after spilling his humorous moniker for Prince William. Mike quipped: “For the Prince of Wales, he is known as One Pint Willy. He is known to me as One Pint Willy because he is not the best of drinkers, coming from a sport where it is built on the social aspect and a couple of beers being sunk quite often. That is one I will give away for the Prince of Wales.” Zara couldn’t help but laugh and warned him: “Oh my god. You are in so much trouble.” Amidst the giggles, the couple revealed they affectionately call each other “munchkin”.

A royal expert recently poured cold water on speculation that Zara might be in line for a princess title. Zara has been a visible presence at her uncle King Charles’ side, most recently at the Windsor Horse Show and Royal Ascot, leading to speculation that she might be about to get a title. But, speaking on the Palace Confidential podcast, Daily Mail Diary Editor Richard Eden said: “We all love Zara and we’ve seen her quite a lot. We saw her at the Buckingham Palace Garden Party supporting her cousin Prince William and it’s something that would be popular.” He added: “Her and Mike Tindall are very popular members of the Royal Family but I think it is very unlikely to happen. She’s very busy, has lots of business and it would be awkward.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
