Privacy Notice A former The X Factor winner and Coronation Street icon is reportedly set to strut his stuff on the dance floor for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. It comes following controversy on the hit BBC show amid allegations of Giovanni Pernice ‘bullying’ Amanda Abbington. Shayne Ward, who clinched The X Factor title nearly two decades ago and is adored by fans for his role as Aidan Connor on the ITV soap, is said to be gearing up to trade his acting and singing talents for a spin on the dance floor. Shayne is reported to be joining the new series, and show bosses are surely banking on his Corrie fame to lure in the audience, reports the Mirror.

A spokesperson for Strictly told OK! “The celebrity contestants for this series of strictly will be announced in due course.” Shayne Ward’s representatives did not wish to comment. “Shayne is a previous winner of an audience-voted talent show so will have high hopes of doing it again. He is excited to begin training. He has some dancing experience so could be a contender for the glitterball trophy. He also has a whopping fan base from his years as a Coronation Street hunk,” an inside source told The Sun. Tom Dean, the Olympic swimming sensation, has revealed he’s diving into a new challenge as the first celebrity confirmed for the upcoming series of a hit TV show. The announcement came hot on the heels of his impressive performance in the men’s 200 metres individual medley at the Paris Olympics earlier this week. Speaking about his decision, Tom shared: “Naturally you want to take a break after you’ve had a full Olympic cycle and the opportunity arose. I thought it would be really exciting to try something a bit different. I’ll be doing that and straight back into training after it. It’s something to look forward to.”

He also mentioned seeking advice from fellow swimmer Adam Peaty, who previously competed on the show and said: “I’ve not seen [Adam] yet. He did brilliantly on it so I’ll be getting a few tips from him, for sure.” Despite his aquatic prowess, Tom admitted he’s less confident on dry land, but is eager to embrace the experience: “I don’t do too well out of water in gravity sports. I’m throwing myself into it and I know what a hard day’s training is like so I’m looking forward to it. I guess we’ll find out. It’s something to look forward to and once I finish this, back home, relax a bit with the family and then we crack on end of August time. It’s exciting.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
