Privacy NoticeBBC Breakfast’s coverage of the 2024 Euros has been met with criticism from TV viewers. The programme aired on Sunday, 14 July, featuring live segments from both the BBC studio and Germany, where the football tournament is taking place. BBC sports presenter John Watson has been broadcasting live from Berlin throughout the week. However, Sally Nugent joined him in Berlin on Sunday ahead of the Euros final, which will see England take on Spain. Sally, 52, hosted several live segments during Sunday’s BBC Breakfast, but fans were left confused as to why she’d jetted out to Germany. Many criticised the amount of BBC reporters who have made the journey to Germany to cover the final Euros match.

Taking to social media, one person said: “How many people have the @bbc sent to report on the England games?” while a second added: “Now sent another in, Sally Nugent to report with the others. I’m not sure they needed to drain more of the license money.” A third fumed: “What’s silly Sally doing at the euros, John Watson there already.” A fourth said: “Why has Sally gone out to Germany when big John has managed the whole tournament by himself?” Another BBC viewer commented: “So more of my TV license is going on freebies for the presenters, who don’t need to be there in Germany we already pay football pundits for this, singing idiots and obnoxious kids.”
