It’s always uplifting when public figures offer a helping hand to animals, promoting the idea of adopting pets rather than buying them.
Recently, renowned actress Mandy Moore went the extra mile by taking in a stray dog, warmly welcoming the canine into her family.
The star of This is Us, aged 39, shared this delightful news through an Instagram post on January 20. Moore detailed how her nanny Celina stumbled upon a dog “wandering the streets for several days,” prompting Moore and her family to provide the homeless pup with a loving home.
“While we weren’t actively seeking another canine companion, he seemed to be searching for us. The uncanny resemblance to our dear Joni, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 12, made it impossible for us to turn away,” Moore expressed in her post.
The singer of “Candy” mentioned that the new addition is approximately 6-7 months old and lacks a microchip. They plan to have him neutered next week. The newest member of their family has been named “Marshmallow,” a suggestion from Moore’s 2-year-old son, Gus.
Marshmallow has proven to be an “unexpectedly wonderful addition to our gang,” according to Moore. Although initially met with indifference from Moore’s existing pets, Marshmallow has been gradually winning them over.
Moore concluded her post with the hashtag #adoptdontshop, encouraging others to consider adopting rescue animals. Numerous individuals expressed gratitude in the comments, commending her for taking in the adorable dog.
A lifelong animal enthusiast, Moore has had a love for cats and dogs since her childhood. Her household includes several pets, such as another rescue dog named Jackson and three rescue cats named Fig, Olivia, and Peanut, as reported by Celebrity Pets.
A mother of two, Moore has shared that caring for her pets has prepared her for the responsibilities of parenthood. In her own words, “We have three rescue cats now who were our OG children, our OG babies before human babies came into the picture. So they’re a very important part of our lives. Very, very important.”
Joining the ranks of celebrities who have adopted rescue dogs, Moore stands alongside notable names such as America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, and music legend Billy Joel.
A heartfelt welcome to your new abode, Marshmallow! A sincere thank you to Mandy Moore and her family for offering a forever home to this lovely stray dog!
