Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing professional Johannes Radebe, who hails from South Africa, admitted to feeling ‘homesick’ after being introduced to his celebrity partner’s family. In a moving chat on It Takes Two, Johannes gushed about it being a ‘gorgeous day’ meeting Montell Douglas’ family, with emotions running high as he said it ‘felt like home’. Montell, 38, and Johannes, 37, made their mark on the Strictly leaderboard at the weekend after performing their couple’s choice. The Olympian and Strictly pro took on a carnival-inspired routine to Skeleton Move by Master KG, and it quickly vowed the judges as they scooped up a near-perfect score of 39 out of 40.

Reflecting on their exhilarating Saturday (19 October) night on Strictly, the duo spoke to Janette Manrara on It Takes Two just a few days later. During their chat, it quickly turned to Johannes meeting Montell’s family, which was shown in their VT before their performance. “I don’t want to tell lies, when I first went to meet them I felt like I was meeting my in-laws!” Johannes sweetly gushed. Former Strictly pro and host, Janette added: “Plot twist!” Johannes, who is also known as JoJo, opened up about the family meeting further as he shared: “It was the most gorgeous day and I did feel homesick. And firstly because it was a plate of food that was delivered to me while I was sitting on the couch and they said, ‘eat, my son!’ It honestly felt like home. I love this woman, I love all your family and I do feel like a part of the family because everyone was so welcoming.” Their performance on Saturday night held a special place for Montell as it was dedicated to her late grandmother. Motsi Mabuse couldn’t help but commend their routine, noting they had “exploded with energy” on the dance floor.
