Privacy Notice ITV soap fans will be jumping for joy as the broadcaster has announced a huge change to Emmerdale and Coronation Street which will see them go head to head with rival BBC soap EastEnders. Corrie and Emmerdale fans will soon be able to view both soaps’ episodes from 7am on the day of broadcast, in a change starting October 14 on streaming platform ITV X. Over on BBC iPlayer, EastEnders episodes drop at 6am every morning. Classic episodes of the show will also be available to stream online. Speaking on the exciting new changes, ITV Channels’ managing director Craig Morris said: “The positive response when we made the soaps available at 7am during The Euros and the Olympics this year shows that audiences want to choose when to watch their favourite Soap, and the new dedicated destination on ITVX is a fitting home for the Nation’s biggest and best continuing dramas.
The Dingles are celebrating 30 years in Emmerdale
“Now you can choose when to enjoy your daily dose of drama – whether during the morning commute, over lunch or at a time that suits you each evening.” Iain MacLeod, Coronation Street’s former boss and Executive Producer for Continuing Drama at ITV exclaimed: “This is great news for soap fans! “Having the ability to catch your favourite show at a time that suits you fits perfectly with people’s busy days and flexible lives.” And who doesn’t love the idea of watching the latest Dingle drama in the Dales or calamity on the Cobbles on the tram to work, or over a brew after dropping the kids at school!” As a ‘soap nerd’ himself, Ian said the new soap page was an ‘absolute treat’.

“It’s a one-stop shop for fans of Coronation Street and Emmerdale and it will now be so easy to enjoy your favourite shows, and delve into their illustrious histories and beyond.” The changes are set to kick off next week as Emmerdale celebrates a huge 30 years for one of the most famous family on the Dales, the Dingles. The family are saying goodbye to their patriarch Zak after actor Steve Halliwell’s tragic death at 77 last December. Speaking on filming the emotional scenes, Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle said: “There’s really poignant moments in it. And whilst we were filming, we were all focused and giving the script everything it needed. But off camera as well – and Steve would have enjoyed this, because Steve always liked to have a giggle behind the camera – whilst we weren’t rolling, we made sure we had some laughs as well.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
