Privacy NoticeBritain’s Got Talent’s live final on Sunday night, 2 May, had audiences on the edge of their seats, as the live show encountered an unfortunate mishap. Eagle-eyed viewers spotted a member of Korean taekwondo stars Ssaulabi Performance Troupe suffering a freak accident as they performed in front of the judges. During their performance, in which the troupe smashed planks whilst being thrown in the air, two members collided mid air, as one came tumbling down to the ground. Bosses have now broken their silence. “During last night’s live final, a member of Ssaulabi Performance Troupe was injured,” a spokesperson for the show told The Sun.

“He was quickly seen by our onsite medical team before going to hospital for further treatment. All at BGT wish him a speedy recovery.” Concerned viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment on the mishap, despite the show going on. One group member however, did stop to check up on the injured party, who was seen crawling off the stage. “I’m pretty sure that one of the team members injured, if not broke, his leg during that performance,” said one. “That guy just broke his leg!” exclaimed another.

Judge Alesha Dixon, who sat alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli, announced that she hoped the performer was ‘okay’ after the shock accident. Unfortunately for Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer act, they failed to make a ‘medal placing position’ in the final, finishing in 10th place, just above skipping troupe Harribow. Singer Sydnie Christmas took the crown, gaining her a spot at this year’s Royal Variety Show, as well as a £250,000 prize. However, many fans were left disappointed by the 10th place position, as one tweeted: “Ssaulabi Performance Troupe are world class and would be a deserving winner.”

“10th place for Ssaulabi with all their talent is mental! Should have been top 3!” agreed another. It has since been revealed that 28-year-old singer Sydnie Christmas took a huge 27% of the public vote. Jack Rhodes came second with 15.8% of the vote and Abigail and Afronitaaa were third with 10.4%. Some fans claimed the result to be a ‘fix’ as Sydnie was the last act to perform, which she has now opened up about. “It wouldn’t have mattered if I’d gone first. I don’t know what to say, soul destroying isn’t it?” Sydnie told OK! “It’s difficult, it takes it away from how hard the journey was or how rewarding the success is.” “I had to graft. I had to really graft and believe and want. I’m focussing on the people that did support me because I owe it all to them, without them it wouldn’t have happened.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
