Privacy NoticeTelevision star Matthew Wright has sparked concern after being hospitalised twice within 48 hours due to severe neck pain. The 59 year old host updated his followers on social media following his A&E dashes. His health ordeal began with one visit to the hospital where he was sent home with pain medication. However, he found himself back in an ambulance the next day, Thursday 4 July, after experiencing ‘off the scale’ agony. On Tuesday 9 July, on X, previously known as Twitter, Matthew expressed his gratitude: “Turns out my bad neck is actually quite bad. Indebted to paramedics Steph and Miko for getting me to hospital and dealing with worst of pain. Doesn’t look like I’ll be moving house today.” In a medicated state, he tweeted: “Two shots of morphine so far, one diazepam, 1000mg paracetemol and it’s not even 7am #BreakfastOfChampions.”

He also praised the NHS care he was receiving: “Having an absolutely first class @ nhs experience thus far”, reports the Mirror. He followed with an update the next day: “‘It was quite a night! Got to rest up a while and keep taking the meds hopefully all will be good.” Then, uplifted by support, he thanked everyone on Thursday morning: “Slept some in a chair and have definitely improved enough to lie down for a bit. Me and the family quite overwhelmed by your kindness and concern. Thanks so much x.” Confidently, he added: “One more day of rest and I reckon I’ll be good to go again! “.

However, the situation took another turn as he detailed his return to the hospital in an ambulance, tweeting: “Back in hospital, another ambulance, pain off the scale. Scans and stuff next.” Before his hospital dash, Matthew had revealed to his followers that he and his family were moving house this week, with their new home believed to be in Devon. Sharing a snap of his packed-up boxes, he wrote on X: “Packing all done, two days non stop but I’m ready to go!” “Thought I’d be more emotional after 23 years here but no which means it really is time to say goodbye and go the full Worzel after so many years dithering. A new dawn for me tomorrow x.” Matthew has previously opened up about the stress of hosting his long-standing Channel 5 show, which he said led to symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He stepped down from the show in 2018 after an 18-year stint since its inception in 2000, and moved on to become a TalkRadio host and a regular face on ITV’s This Morning.
