It was a jaw-dropping moment on The Traitors as Claudia Winkleman surprised the cast with a massive revelation during the latest episode. As the intense competition in the popular BBC show continues into its final week, with five hopefuls battling it out to reach the dramatic finale, just one cunning Traitor – Charlotte Berman – is still in the mix to snatch the hefty £100,000 prize. But Wednesday’s episode served a curveball nobody expected when Claudia announced that a new position of power would be introduced: The Seer. “The Seer has the power to learn one other player’s identity,” Claudia explained.
The stars of The Traitors were left in shock by the latest twist
This monumental twist allowed The Seer to command a private meeting and force another player to disclose their true allegiance, shaking the very foundations of gameplay. This game-changing role had been hinted at previously, with Claudia priming viewers for an epic shake-up: “Someone will win an extraordinary power that could turn the entire game on its head.” It was eventually Frankie who won the power – and towards the end of the episode, she chose to find out whether Charlotte was a Faithful or a Traitor. With their epic showdown set to take place in tomorrow’s final, it’s unknown how this piece of intel could change the competition. Ahead of tonight, fans had been busily theorising on social media, with eagle-eyed observers having spied clues hinting at The Seer’s introduction, including a telling bookshelf scene in last Friday’s episode.

The Seer, a character from the party game Werewolf, which The Traitors is loosely based on, has the power to secretly discover one player’s true identity to help the Villagers find who the Werewolf – aka The Traitor – is. This week, contestants of The Traitors were given a stern warning by TV journalist Marina Hyde, reports the Mirror. On The Rest is Entertainment podcast, she advised against portraying oneself as “very intelligent”, as it could lead to an early exit from the game. She referenced the recent elimination of communications director Yin, 34, saying: “Don’t make your character ‘I am very intelligent’ so that when you get in the castle…what about that one girl, she wouldn’t stop going on about how she was a behavioural expert? ” She added: “Honestly, almost the last thing she said to a bunch of the contestants of the group was ‘I’m not going to sleep tonight because I’ve not built up enough social capital’. Bye, bye Yin.”
