Privacy NoticeJay Blades is gearing up to host Channel 5’s new series, Country Homes Through Time. The Repair Shop star, 54, is set to explore the history of grand estates, adding to his repertoire of historical docs like East End Through Time and West End Through Time. Reports suggest Jay’s got a secret love for British history, and with Channel 5’s backing, he’s ready to flaunt his knowledge. Swapping his repairman hat for that of a historian, Jay’s looking to make waves on the telly in a different way. A source told The Sun: “Jay will probably always be best known for The Repair Shop but he has really carved out a groove as a historian for Channel 5.” They added that while his previous series had personal ties, his latest ventures are taking him all over the UK, and fans are lapping it up.

The announcement of his new project comes amid personal turmoil for Blades, who has recently faced the collapse of his marriage to Lisa Marie Zbozen and the devastating murder of his uncle Richard Brathwaite in a brutal knife attack in north London this March. Despite the setbacks, the face of The Repair Shop since 2017 is taking a breather from his beloved show. Word on the street is that he’s set to front a brand-new spin-off called The Repair Shop on the Road, which will see him travelling around Blighty fixing up treasured possessions.
