Privacy NoticeHalf of them are now in their 40s but the stars of cult comedy The Inbetweeners may be about to return to the roles that made them famous. Joe Thomas, who played hopeless romantic Simon, has said the cast are all onboard with another outing for the boys, who would be grown up now. Ideas under discussion include the group, having left school and with one of them about to get married, going on a stag night in Las Vegas. Speaking about whether the cast had spoken about reuniting for another series or a film, he said discussions had “happened in various forms” – adding that his co-stars are all onboard if the idea was right.

Speaking on the Always Be Comedy podcast, Joe, 40, said: “We’re all still around, we’re all still in each other’s lives. We all still like each other. And if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it. “ However, he cautioned: “But everybody’s anxiety would be ‘will it be as good?’ That is what we would be going in with.” He added: “My main worry about doing it again is that I think I am now too closed… I’m too old and have too many boundaries up now. I was utterly guileless when we did that show.” The Inbetweeners was a huge hit for Channel 4 when it aired between 2008 and 2010, making stars of its cast, who also included Simon Bird, 40, James Buckley, 37, and Blake Harrison, 39. The sitcom, created by Ian Morris and Damon Beasley, also created opportunities for its large supporting cast, who included stand-up Greg Davies and Emily Atack – plus a huge array of crude catchphrases, most notably: “Briefcase w****r.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free It also spawned two hugely-successful films and its thought any Inbetweeners comeback is likely to take the form of a third big-screen adventure rather than a new TV series. The four leads are often asked about a reunion but haven’t always spoken so positively about the prospect. James joked two years ago: “You know, lot of people still ask if there’s going to be some more Inbetweeners, and my answer is always the same.I always go look at me, look at a state of me, look how old and haggard I am, and I’m the youngest out of the boys.”
