Viewers of The Apprentice were left gobsmacked during tonight’s episode when one contestant made an unexpected exit from the show. In a twist during Thursday night’s boardroom showdown, Dr Jana Denzel announced his decision to bow out of the competition before even learning if his team had won or or not. After the Easter Egg task, project manager Jana dropped the bombshell, saying: “Just wanted to say Lord Sugar, I’m proud of everyone’s contributions towards this. I know how much some people want it. I’m going to be honest with you, I don’t think I want it as bad as them.

“Whether we win or lose, I would like to step away from the process, as I don’t think it’s a good fit for me,” he concluded. His sudden departure left Lord Sugar, the remaining candidates, and viewers on X (formerly known as Twitter) in a state of shock. One fan exclaimed: “JANA…what! ? Come on bud – mate, why! ! ! !” while another wrote: “Jana oh my what the heck just happened there….” A third stunned viewer tweeted: “why even waste ur time applying omggggg Jana #TheApprentice, while a fourth said: ” and a fourth chimed in: “WOW I’m shocked Jana quit! Was not expecting that!” Despite expressing surprise at Jana’s abrupt exit, Lord Sugar wished the cosmetic dentist well in his future endeavours, reports the Mirror.

It emerged that Jana had been called out for using the outdated term ‘coloured’ to refer to a black individual during a task where they were devising a character for a marketing campaign. Despite this, a spokesperson has confirmed that Jana’s departure from the show was “for completely unrelated and separate reasons, and he has our full support.” Addressing Jana’s remarks, a representative for the show stated: “We were made aware of an ill-informed comment made by Jana during the process and action was taken. Whilst we have made it very clear to Jana that his use of language was not acceptable, we are confident there was no ill-intent behind it and the concerns of all parties involved have been addressed and resolved.” Before joining the show, Jana expressed his anticipation, acknowledging the tough road ahead but eager to seize the opportunity. “More importantly, I want to ensure that I have fun throughout the process, learn from my peers, and walk away with not just a potential investment, but genuine friendships that will last far beyond the show,” he shared.
