Privacy NoticeOn The 1% Club on Saturday, 24 August the stakes were high as contestants chewed over brain-teasers meant for only the smartest in the nation. On ITV’s gripping quiz show, viewers watched as a whopping 100 contenders were put to the test with questions that typically just a fraction of the population can crack. Saturday’s edition of the competition cruised along until it hit the 70% question when suddenly 19 participants got the boot simultaneously, including one who did her sums right but then flubbed the entire question. As host Lee Mack offered a sympathetic ear about her blunder, he said: “You counted correctly but you misread it. It’s a long question, fair enough, but you can’t get a chance to re-read it.”

Quizzed by Lee about her dreams for the prize money, the contestant shared a quip about spicing up her wheelchair, “I’d like to pimp this baby out. I’m thinking flames on the side, maybe a smoke machine,” she said, reports the Liverpool Echo. “You don’t want flames on the side, people will be throwing water on you,” Lee said in response. To which she replied: “I also want a smoke machine and maybe some entrance music as well.”

The contestant gestured to her wheelchair while making her point, prompting Lee to respond with a chuckle: “Maybe… Alright. You got me on that. You know what I meant, don’t you?” With a smile, the contestant nodded in agreement as the audience broke into applause, then everyone settled down to continue the game show.

The iconic moment comes after Jim Jefferies, who presents the Australian version of the hit game show, revealed that a heavily pregnant make-up artist had gone into labour while filming an episode of the Australian spin-off. “She went into labour while doing my hair and make-up,” he told 7NEWS.com.au. “To begin with, she just thought she was having a bit of a tummy rumble or something, but she went into labour! To her credit, she finished my hair and make-up, and doing my hair is no easy job — it’s a real smoke-and-mirrors show to get that thing looking alright.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
