Privacy Notice Richard Madeley shocked his Good Morning Britain co-host Susannah Reid with an inappropriate comment following a news report on the latest controversy to engulf Strictly Come Dancing on Tuesday morning’s show. His tone-deaf comment followed a report on how upset professional dancer Katya Jones is at seeing her celebrity partner Wynne Evans “portrayed as someone he’s not” after she appeared to remove his hand from her waist during the Strictly live show on Saturday. At the end of the report, correspondent Jonathan Swain referred to Strictly’s catchphrase being “keep dancing,” to which Richard commented: “Do you think they’ll change the line to ‘keep groping?’” Susannah awkwardly replied: “Mmmmm,” while Richard carried on, adding: “A possibility? Jokingly of course.”
Susanna and viewers were not impressed with Richard’s ‘Strictly’ joke
Viewers were quick to comment on Richard’s ‘joke’ on social media, with one writing: “@GMB why do you employ the idiot @richardmadeley1 – tone deaf ‘joke’. So awkward. Read the roommate” adding the hashtag: “#alanpartridge.” A second commented: “What an utterly inappropriate comment from Madeley regarding the strictly (non) story #gmb,” and a third added: “Richard making jokes about groping FFS.” Another wondered: “Richard Madeley’s inappropriate “Keep Groping” comment in response to the @bbcstrictly story was just so out of order and juvenile. I hope he got hell in his ear from the director in the gallery!” while a fourth simply said: “Another major gaffe from Richard Madeley on @gmb. No need for that.” It wasn’t Richard’s only gaffe of the morning, either. Just a few hours later the veteran TV presenter nearly delivered an X-rated introduction to Andi Peters, that once again caused Susanna to look shocked while sitting alongside her co-host. Katya and Wynne have spoken about Saturday’s misinterpreted Strictly incident

Meanwhile, Jonathan’s report focused on Katya and Wynne, who have been at the centre of a Strictly storm over the weekend after Katya was seen to remove Wynne’s hands and then reject his offer of a high-five during the Claudia chat part of the show, with Katya having to later clarify it was all part of a “very silly joke” between the pair. On It Takes Two on Monday night, she said: “I have to make this absolutely clear that this whole incident with the hand and the high-five on Saturday night was an inside joke between Wynne and I. Was it a silly joke? Yes. Was it a bad joke? Yes. “However, it was a joke and even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is total nonsense. Those that have doubts, you guys have got it wrong.” Wynne has also talked about Saturday night in an interview with BBC Radio Wales. He said: “I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
