Privacy NoticeThe sitcom Miranda was a massive hit, catapulting actresses Miranda Hart and Sarah Hadland to stardom – but the latter had an unexpected view of her co-star before they met. Sarah, 53, is currently competing on Strictly Come Dancing with pro partner Vito Coppola. The dance partners are getting along brilliantly and she also maintains a close friendship with her former co-star Miranda. The ladies famously portrayed best friends Stevie and Miranda in the beloved BBC show, who consistently found themselves in hilarious predicaments. However, the Strictly star confesses she thought they wouldn’t click in real life, telling the Observer in 2013: “I remember looking her up on the internet and thinking: ‘We have nothing in common, you’re posh’.”

Sarah didn’t go to university or drama school. “I was told a gazillion times: ‘You will not be an actress’,” she shared. She went on to achieve great success, with three years on cult comedy sketch show That Mitchell and Webb Look. “I was the only person on That Mitchell and Webb Look who hadn’t been to Oxbridge,” she revealed. “They were very sweet just occasionally I’d get a clue on the cryptic crossword.” The W1A star fondly reminisced about her bond with Miranda, 51, revealing to The Sun: “I feel lucky to have done a job that has given me a good friend for life”.

Miranda Hart recently graced the BBC’s The One Show sofa, where she excitedly announced her marriage at 51: ‘I’m married, I got married at 51 and it’s just so lovely!” the comedian beamed. She also touched on finding love later in life: ‘It wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person. She teased a detail from her book, saying, ‘It’s a little undercurrent in the book,” but kept the mystery alive by not disclosing how they met: “I’m not going to reveal how we met because that’s a little bit of a twist. He’s my best friend, we had the best fun and I’m just thrilled to be a young bride at 51.” Sarah has spoken about the cherished on-screen friendship between characters Miranda and Stevie: “That relationship between Stevie and Miranda is really unique and special it was always her [Miranda’s] goal to find a relationship that reflected everything that was good in a female friendship,” she explained. Sarah also highlighted the show’s message of self-acceptance: “We’ve given them an alternative to all the perfect women that they see on television, who look perfect and do everything perfectly. If you don’t look like a model and you haven’t got all the men crawling at your feet you’re a disaster. We sort of show that we get everything wrong but we have a brilliant laugh.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
