Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing star Ola Jordan was reportedly accused of “bullying” Steve Backshall when they were partnered together on the show in 2014. The claims have resurfaced following allegations made against Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima’s training methods on Strictly. The explorer and presenter, now 51, reportedly made a complaint against Ola during his time on the show, claiming he found the training sessions “tough” and difficult to endure. After the complaint, the pair were said to have been assigned a chaperone to follow them around, as he didn’t want to be alone with the now 41 year old professional dancer, Mail Online reports.

The show’s bosses reportedly intervened after Steve alleged that his confidence had been knocked by her “rude and impatient” manner. A source close to the show said at the time: “Steve is a very energetic personality, up for any challenge, but Ola’s harsh treatment has flattened him and made him lose confidence. “She was very rude and impatient when he struggled to master the shapes for last Saturday’s Charleston. “Her choreography and tuition were so tough that Steve resorted to asking others for help.” The source also claimed that Ola had a “cold and very distant personality” and that she “refused to mix with Steve’s family and friends” during his time on the BBC show. At the time, Steve also spoke out about the physical demands of appearing on the show and said: “It has absolutely broken me. You are training all day long on hard wooden floors wearing dance shoes that have no give in them at all, and no cushioning.

“The impact travels straight all the way through my body and I’m just falling apart.” It is understood that Steve complained to one of the Strictly producers at the time, which was after their Halloween-themed Charleston. The bullying claims have reemerged amid various allegations made by former contestants from their time on the show, with an insider claiming the series is “fatally tarnished”. OK! has contacted Ola and Steve’s representatives and Strictly for comment. Allegations were first raised by Amanda Abbington after she was partnered with Giovanni Pernice, 33, on last year’s series. Amanda, 50, described the dancer’s behaviour as “unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean”. Giovanni has been axed from the show but denies the claims.
