Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing’s Nadiya Bychkova admits the atmosphere between her and ex-partner Kai Widdrington is rather chilly following their split as she revealed, “We are not friends.” The talented dancing duo ignited a romance in 2022 but have since parted ways. Discussing the separation, the ballroom star told the Mirror: “We work together but we are not friends and that’s ok. One thing I can tell you is that when you see me dancing with him it will be amazing because I’m a professional.” Nadiya chose to keep the reasons for their break up private and despite the tension, both are set to cha-cha-cha their way across the Strictly stage together later in the series. The 35 year old Ukrainian dancer shared her candid thoughts at the glamorous Pride of Britain Awards on Monday night (21 October) which she described as “one of her favourite nights of the year”.

Nadiya graced the event alongside current co-star and Olympian Tom Dean, exiting the competition as this season’s first eliminated couple. Reflecting on their early departure, Nadiya expressed her disappointment: “It’s never nice to leave early. Tom and I have had so much support from people and I get the feeling that the viewers wanted to see what he was capable of and so did I. Someone had to go and it’s just a shame it was Tom. “We are going to keep dancing though. I am going to teach him a salsa with some big lifts. Not for TV, just so he can see he can be brilliant.” When quizzed about who might clinch the Glitterball in this year’s BBC dance extravaganza, she gushed that there was “so much talent this year” and didn’t have any idea on who could win. Nadiya and Kai called it quits last summer, after a two year relationship. Back in December 2023, Kai had expressed his deep affection and said: “I just knew Nadiya was The One. She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, but the real beauty is not just what you see on the outside – it’s the person on the inside I fell in love with. “People often misjudge her and just see a stunning blonde girl, but she’s more than that. She’s the kindest person I’ve ever met in my entire life, and the most amazing mother.”

Post-split from Mila’s dad, her romance with Kai was her first leap back into the dating scene. Reflecting on new relationships as a mother in a previous interview, she shared: “When you’re a mum, you don’t jump into a relationship saying: ‘I’m in love,’ and that’s it.
