Privacy Notice Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones refused to high-five her celebrity partner, Wynne Evans, during the live show on Saturday night (12 October). The spotted snub was followed by another ‘awkward’ encounter from the pair which viewers labelled ‘uncomfortable’. Katya and Wynne returned to the dancefloor on Saturday night to perform a Tango to Abba’s Money Money Money, where they scored an impressive 34 out of 40. This put the pair on top of the leaderboard alongside Jamie Borthwick, until Tasha Ghouri’s final performance of the night stole the show. However, it was the moments that followed Katya and Wynne’s dance that caught the attention of fans. After Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin’s performance, they joined the rest of their cast to speak to Claudia Winkleman, but after they ran up the stairs, Wynne attempted to high-five Katya.

In a surprising on-air moment, Katya faced Wynne but refused to join in on the double-handed high-five, leading the Go Compare singer to awkwardly rub his head before returning his hands to his sides. Wynne maintained a smile as he stood behind Katya, huddled around the other Strictly stars, to hear Sam and Nikita’s results. The encounter didn’t go unnoticed by fans who took to X, formerly Twitter, as one wrote: “Why did she look so annoyed with him lol.” A second said: “Ooooooh she doesn’t look very happy,” while another asked: “What’s going on here.” But that wasn’t the only mishap from the night, as another ‘awkward’ moment occurred between the pair. As Wynne and Katya stood with their co-stars and host Claudia Winkleman, Wynne moved his hand along Katya’s waist towards her midriff, but in response, she moved it away sharpishly. After the clips went viral on social media, Katya and Wynne issued an apology in an Instagram video. Katya began with: “Hello everybody it’s Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry.”

The opera singer then wrote in the caption: “Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5’s is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones.” Fans of Strictly took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on the incidents and the subsequent apology. One concerned viewer commented: “Sorry guys, how is that a joke? Ok the refusal to do the high five and the eye roll, yep get that, but the hand slowly moving across Katya’s stomach, and her moving it away and looking seriously uncomfortable? ? How is that a ‘joke’.” Another expressed unease: “What about the bit where he had wondering hands and you moved them away off your stomach.” A third echoed the sentiment: “We were more worried about the hand on the stomach that Katya moved because she was uncomfortable rather than the high five.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
