Privacy NoticeGraziano Di Prima, the Strictly Come Dancing star, has “cut himself off from civilisation” after being dropped from the BBC show, according to the dancer’s spokesperson. Graziano was axed from BBC’s Strictly following allegations of gross misconduct towards his former dance partner Zara McDermott. It was confirmed today that he kicked Zara during rehearsals last year. The dancer has now retreated to Italy, where he is working on a remote farm with the support of his wife. Graziano’s spokesperson, Mark Borkowski, revealed on 18 July that his client is currently addressing his mental health issues, reports the Mirror. Speaking to BBC News, he said: “He has literally cut himself off from civilisation. I think that’s a wise thing to do, supported by his wife. He’s coming to terms with his mental health issues.” In a further statement shared with PA, Graziano’s rep described the dancer as being in a “very vulnerable state”.

Speaking to the agency, he said: “This week the news agenda has focused on an isolated incident that Mr Di Prima deeply regrets and apologised for at the time. The deluge of commentary, too often without context or nuance, has provoked a pile-on that has left a young man in a very vulnerable state. In this case, like in many others, media and social media have immense power to build and destroy careers.” The star admitted to “kicking” 27 year old former Love Island star Zara during rehearsals for last year’s show, but he vehemently denies claims that he spat on her. Mr Borkowski revealed that Graziano doesn’t have a clear memory of the incident but didn’t deny there was a kick, and his spokesperson said he accepted that he had “crossed the line. Mr Borkowski told BBC News: “There is never a time when kicking, or any sense of that is right. And he knows that. He knows he’s made a mistake. He apologised at the time.”

Adding: “While there are aspects of this story involving external influences that I can’t discuss at this time, I remain committed to being strong for my family and friends.” Meanwhile, Zara issued her own statement on Tuesday 16 July in which she said that she “wrestled with the fear of opening up” about her time on Strictly Come Dancing because she feared “public backlash” and “victim shaming”. She shared on Instagram: “So much of my Strictly experience was everything I could have dreamed of.

“The entire production team and everyone behind the scenes as well as my fellow contestants were so amazing to work with. However, my experience inside the training room was very different. Reports have been made about my treatment on the show and there were witnesses to some events, as well as videos of particular incidents which are incredibly distressing to watch.” “I have wrestled with the fear of opening up I was scared about public backlash, I was scared about my future, I was scared of victim shaming. But after a lot of conversations with those I love, I’ve gained the strength to face these fears, and when I was asked to speak to the BBC, I spoke candidly about my time on the show.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
