Privacy NoticeGiovanni Pernice has hit back at Amanda Abbington after she made a series of shocking claims on Newsnight, accusing her of trying to damage his reputation after their Strictly Come Dancing stint. In the Victoria Derbyshire interview last night Amanda revealed: “There were some very serious things that went on, and they were upheld by the BBC. There were breaches of all the codes of conduct within the organisation.” The pro dancer’s spokesperson said: “It’s disappointing that Ms Abbington would knowingly mislead the outcome of the report in order to further attempt to damage Giovanni’s reputation.” They continued: “While Ms Abbington may not like the outcome of the six-month investigation, she should not seek to spread false and defamatory claims.” Giovanni has consistently refuted any allegations made against him.

During her candid Newsnight appearance, Amanda confessed she harbours “no regrets” over making complaints about her former TV dance partner Giovanni, even though she faced a barrage of “hundreds” of death and rape threats. The BBC conducted a thorough investigation into the star’s grievances against Giovanni earlier this year, substantiating “some, but not all” of her accusations against the dancing pro. She said: “It’s been one of the worst years of my life “I’ve been through a lot, women go through a lot, but it has been a very unpleasant, turbulent, relentless time in my life. I’ve had to deal with a myriad of horrible things.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

The 50 year old revealed that over the past eight months, she’s received hundreds of threats. In August, the Metropolitan Police confirmed they were investigating after being called to the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park due to an alleged death threat sent to Amanda, who was starring in When It Happens To You at the time. “I had a credible death threat sent to my place of work, a theatre that I was working at, which was credible and the police had to be called,” Amanda shared.

“I had a bomb threat sent to my place of work, threatening to blow the building up because I was pursuing this. I’ve had death threats sent to me, my family. I’ve had rape threats sent to my 15-year-old daughter, saying ‘I’m just laughing at the moment thinking about you having to watch your daughter get raped for what you’ve done to Giovanni Pernice’. They were every day I’d be getting those and I have screenshots that have been handed over to the Met Police.” Amanda revealed that the threats have “started up again” following the publication of the BBC review on Monday.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
