Privacy NoticeChris McCausland and Dianne Buswell shared a touching moment before they took to the dance floor for their emotional performance on Saturday night. The Strictly Come Dancing pair wowed both the judges and viewers on Saturday, 19 October with their stunning Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers – a song that holds a special place in the heart of Liverpool-born Chris, 47. Before stepping onto the famous Strictly dance floor, it seemed that comedian Chris, who is the first blind contestant on the BBC show, was battling nerves as he shared a private moment with Australian dancer Dianne, 35. The duo, who are favourites to win the Glitterball Trophy this year, held hands and hugged before taking to the dance floor.

Chris gave Dianne’s hand a sweet kiss after the pair practised their form one last time before their spectacular and tear-jerking routine. In other snaps, Dianne can be seen assisting Chris with his shoes just before they faced the judges – who were clearly blown away by the performance – awarding the pair an impressive 35 points overall. Chris’ performance to You’ll Never Walk Alone had judges, including Wirral-born Shirley Ballas almost in tears as he explained why the song meant so much to him. Chris and Aussie Dianne received 35 points from judges Shirley, Anton du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood, their highest score yet in the competition, reports the Mirror. After their stunning performance, fans spotted Chris whispering to Dianne as they hugged following the emotional dance. Dianne told him: “I’m so proud of you.” Chris asked: “Did I do okay?” To which Dianne reassured him: “You did good yeah. Really, really, good.” This fantastic routine has secured Chris and Dianne’s place in Strictly for another week. However, it was time for Paul Merson to leave after he became the fourth contestant to be eliminated, following a dance-off against JLS singer JB Gill and his partner Amy Dowden. As a result, Paul and Karen had to say goodbye to the Strictly dance floor.

But not before Paul made a final jibe at his beloved Arsenal’s rival team Tottenham. When asked about his experience on the show by host Tess Daly, Paul said: “It’s been really good. For anybody I talk to, I would say you’ve got to go on this show. It’s amazing – everybody,” before jokingly adding: “There’s a Tottenham fan over there called Lincoln and even he’s nice! “. Gushing about his professional dance partner Karen, Paul expressed his gratitude with effusive praise: “It’s been amazing, honestly, amazing. I loved every minute of it, I’ve had a great teacher. She’s been amazing, absolutely amazing and I couldn’t wish for a better coach. I’ve loved every minute of it. I can dance now – I’ve won because I can dance, I couldn’t dance before and I can half dance now. It’s a bonus, absolute bonus.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
