Privacy NoticeAmy Dowden became emotional as she celebrated a major career shift – from professional dancer to published author – following her breast cancer battle. The Strictly Come Dancing star, who is returning to the BBC show this year, was overjoyed as she revealed her brand new book. After a tough battle with breast cancer, with regular updates for her fans along the way, Amy joyfully ‘rang the bell’ in November 2023 to mark the end of her chemo journey. Now, the 34 year old is in the midst of Strictly rehearsals and has launched a book, Dancing In The Rain, to share her life story. Ahead of the book’s release date, which is expected at the beginning of September, Amy shared a video on Instagram as she saw her book for the very first time. While in the garden with pals, including her Strictly co-star Carlos Gu, Amy was handed a box, unaware of what it contained. In the video, she proceeded to excitably open the box, with some help from Carlos, before unravelling her new book. Amy was noticeably emotional as she screamed in delight and excitement at the major milestone moment. She was applauded by her friends who were watching in the garden as she held her book up and exclaimed “Dancing In The Rain.” Sharing the video on Instagram, Amy added the caption: “The first time I held and saw MY BOOK. Think you can tell I’m soooooooo happy with it! I really hope ‘dancing in the rain’ helps others. Can’t believe how close we are to publication date (you can pre order now, link in my bio) Welsh love #mybook #dancingintherain #mystory.” The dancer was flooded with congratulations from her Strictly co-stars, including Dianne Buswell who wrote: “Yesssss” with four love heart emojis, while Neil Jones added a series of clapping hand emojis. Former Strictly contestant Stacey Dooley also shared her support, along with JLS star JB Gill, who is appearing on the new series this year.

Confirming she was returning to Strictly with her fellow professional dancers, Amy said she was emotional and ‘unable to sleep’ ahead of the first day of rehearsals. She wrote on Instagram in July this year: “I can’t believe the day has finally arrived! “Since spring 2023 I’ve been dreaming of this day. Thinking and sometimes doubting it would even happen with so many setbacks along the way. I didn’t sleep last night with nerves and excitement. “I had a good cry this morning and going to soak up every moment of this series which I’m forever grateful for. The Strictly family couldn’t have been more supportive and loving this past year. I truly hope to make you proud this year. Right year eight, let’s do this.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
