Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing fans were left scratching their heads tonight as judge Anton Du Beke unveiled a dramatic new look for the show’s movie-themed week. The 59 year old Strictly icon gave us major Blue Steel vibes with his transformation into super model Derek Zoolander, Ben Stiller’s character from the hit film Zoolander. However, not everyone caught on to the homage straight away – some viewers were convinced they were seeing former Strictly pro Brendan Cole on their screens! One viewer shared a laugh on X, formerly Twitter: “I need everyone to know that my mum thought Anton Du Beke was Brendan Cole. #scd #strictly,” as the show got underway on Saturday 5 October. Another fan echoed the sentiment on Instagram, writing: “I thought Anton was Brendan Cole for a minute,” and another chimed in with: “NOT ANTON AS ZOOLANDER.” Brendan Cole is well-remembered by Strictly fans, having danced in the first 15 seasons of the BBC One hit show. He made his debut in the 2004 inaugural series, partnering with Natasha Kaplinsky, and the duo famously danced their way to victory, taking home the Glitterball trophy.

The other judges also got into the spirit of Movie Week, with Craig Revel Horwood dressed as Pirates of the Caribbean pirate Jack Sparrow, Motsi Mabuse as Whitney Houston’s character in The Bodyguard, and head judge Shirley Ballas arrived on a wire from the ceiling as Mary Poppins. Sadly, Movie Week was down by one star this year, as DIY SOS favourite Nick Knowles had to bow out of the second live show of Strictly Come Dancing’s 20th anniversary series due to an injury. The 62 year old and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk were set to perform a Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2, reports the Mirror. Strictly Come Dancing’s Instagram account broke the news on Friday: “Unfortunately, Nick Knowles sustained an injury during rehearsals and as a result, will not dance this weekend. As per the rules of the competition, Nick and Luba (Mushtuk) will receive a ‘bye’ through to next week when he is hopefully able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery.” Sign up to OK!’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Fellow Strictly stars showed their support in the comments section, with Lauren Oakley posting: “Get better soon.” The BBC has kept details of Nick’s injury under wraps, only stating he sustained a knee injury when he had a fall following a jump. The TV personality had previously mentioned an arm and shoulder issue but was cleared to perform last week. Nick disclosed on 23 September, following the series’ first live show, that he got injured while changing a tyre. He appeared on the BBC Strictly companion show It Takes Two wearing a sling and described the injury, which occurred en route to his birthday celebration the day before, as “painful”. In a recent video on X, Nick spoke about his challenging week but shared his excitement to dance, noting his shoulder was “getting stronger every day”. Shirley Ballas, the head judge, praised Nick and Luba for their “absolutely amazing” performance after just 16 hours of practice, as they delivered an American smooth to Blur’s Parklife.
