Privacy NoticeFormer Corrie star Shayne Ward is paired with dancer Nancy Xu in Strictly Come Dancing. The actor and singer is one of 15 contestants competing in this year’s show, but away from the ballroom dancefloor, Shayne has had star-studded career that’s earned him mega money. According to The Sun and Celebrity Net Worth, Shayne is worth a whopping £2.3million. The singer and actor won the X Factor in 2005 and scored a number one with the single That’s My Goal. Music mogul Simon Cowell then signed him to a recording contract reportedly worth over £700,000 and Shayne’s debut album was certified four times platinum – which likely would have raked it in for the star.

He went on to enjoy chart success with singles including That’s My Goal, which was a Christmas No.1 and No Promises. At one point he was tipped to join Take That after band member Jason Orange quit, but instead went on to play Aidan in Coronation Street, winning a National Television Award in 2016. Aidan’s tragic suicide shocked viewers when it aired in May 2018. According to the publication, insiders claimed that Shayne was being paid £80,000 a year to star on the soap. Shayne made a TV comeback in 2023 when he appeared in The Good Ship Murder, a Channel 5 detective series set on a cruise ship, alongside ex Corrie star Cath Tyldesley. Two more series of the drama were confirmed in April this year.

Shayne is now set to star in an episode of BBC’s daytime soap Doctors, in an episode called Shock Therapy, playing Kenny Webb. It comes as the singer and actor has faced some backlash following his debut on Strictly Come Dancing. He revealed he had a knock after receiving criticism online as some viewers thought he was “over confident”, when in fact he felt “terrified” before the performance. He then returned with a striking tango with his partner Nancy to The Door by Teddy Swims, which landed him a score of 31 and also brought his overall total to 52. Judge Shirley Ballas praised the routine and told him to keep his confidence up and to hold his “head high”.

Just hours before his Strictly debut, Shayne took the opportunity to thank his former Hollyoaks actress fiancée, with whom he shares two children. He shared a photo of the couple on Instagram, adding Starship’s song Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now to the post. Shayne wrote: “As the first show is approaching and lights are preparing to shine brightly than ever before, I want to take this moment to say how grateful I am to my fiancee [Sophie] for putting me forward for [Strictly]. Sophie has loved the show for as long as I can remember, and every year she has said that I should do it.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
