Privacy NoticeA Strictly Come Dancing star has revealed how they’ve already lost an impressive amount of weight from their hectic training regime for the hit BBC show. With a jam-packed schedule in the week leading up to the Saturday live shows, it’s no surprise that the contestants are quickly feeling the effects of their Quickstep and Jive routines. DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles has openly spoken about his impressive weight loss since starting his Strictly journey just weeks ago. While he was forced to miss out on performing this weekend, Nick revealed that he has already shed over two stone. Speaking to The Times on his Strictly experience so far, Nick revealed: “This is much tougher than rugby training. I can feel myself transforming from a very heavy bloke lumbering around the room to somebody who is becoming lighter and more elegant on his feet.”

The TV presenter, 62, also shared how the Strictly experience has been a physical marathon, and that’s not even counting the injury woes. Appearing on BBC’s Morning Live on Tuesday, 1 October, Nick joked: “About eight weeks ago before I started this process, I looked like I’d eaten a dancer, I was that huge. “I’ve lost 13.5kgs in the process here so I am becoming more dancer-shaped and that is my plan to move more like a cat, a dancer than bear or an elephant which I began as. I’m glad I’m doing this (interview) because it is giving me a few minutes’ break from training.” Just a day before the third live show on Saturday, 5 October, it was sadly announced that Nick was unable to dance due to an injury but will be allowed to dance in the next show if he has recovered. The news was announced in a statement shared by the show on its official social media channel. The message to fans read: “Unfortunately, Nick Knowles sustained an injury during rehearsals and as a result, will not dance this weekend. As per the rules of the competition, Nick and Luba will receive a bye through to next week when he is hopefully able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery.”

He reposted the message from Strictly and emotionally added: “I’m absolutely gutted and feeling very very sad.” This weekend was Movie Week on Strictly, and Nick and partner Luba Mushtuk were due to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2. The ‘bye’ means they will be back to perform next week in the competition, should he make a full recover.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
