Privacy NoticeNick Knowles bid an emotional farewell to Strictly Come Dancing on It Takes Two, following his departure from the hit BBC One dance contest. The DIY SOS presenter, 62, became the third celeb to waltz away from the 20th series dance floor after losing the dance-off to Coronation Street’s Shayne Ward. This exit came hot on the heels of his comeback to the show after sitting out movie week due to a dodgy knee. During the It Takes Two episode, viewers were reaching for tissues as Nick’s dance partner Luba Mushtuk got teary watching a clip reel of their journey together.

Overcome with emotion, the 34-year-old pro dancer managed to say “Yes” after the touching tribute, before pulling herself together to express her gratitude, telling Nick: “Thank you, thank you for being you and for being an incredible student. I loved every single moment, we’ll still dance again!”. Nick had a succinct take on his Strictly exit, declaring: “It was the right result!”. He elaborated, noting that after a week off, everyone else had honed their moves while he lagged behind. “I think it was the right result in the end and it means I can now get the various bits of me that are falling off sorted out. Literally, I might have an operation on the arm this week and then another operation on the knee in a couple or three weeks’ time. So I can get myself sorted! ” he said optimistically. On Sunday’s (13 October) results show, Nick and his dance partner Luba found themselves in the dreaded dance-off against former X Factor champ Shayne and his partner Nancy Xu. Shayne and Nancy performed their cha cha to Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use) by Sub Sub featuring Melanie Williams, while Nick and Luba danced their Charleston to Rain On The Roof from the Paddington 2 soundtrack, reports the Mirror.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke all voted to save Shayne and Nancy, a decision that head judge Shirley Ballas agreed with. This comes after Nick suffered a knee injury which he described as “a huge disappointment”. He had previously injured his shoulder and arm while changing a car tyre. When asked by Tess Daly about their time on the show just after their elimiation, Nick said: “I’ve really, really been surprised by how much I’ve loved being here and by two things that happen. One is how much you care each week, and the other is how much you don’t want to let down your partner. It’s been amazing, and thank you, everybody, for all the support. And the only reason I could do this is simply because of Luba’s changes; she’s been amazing.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
