Privacy NoticeThe Strictly Come Dancing pros are back to work following a string of controversies. The show’s official Instagram account posted a delightful picture of the dancers, all beaming with excitement, as they congregated for their first day of rehearsals for Strictly 2024 series. The caption read: “Day one of #Strictly2024 rehearsals done! We can’t wait to share our new pro routines with everyone soon @bbciplayer.” All this year’s line-up was caught in the rehearsal photo, hugging and enjoying the company of their fellow Strictly choreography team. Featured stars, Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, and Luba Mushtuk graced the training room picture, while Amy Dowden – bouncing back to the dance floor this year after her cancer diagnosis – cheerfully appeared. Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas, and Vito Coppola were all spotted amongst their co-stars. Aljaz Skorjanec, who took a hiatus from the show in March 2022, will resurface on the BBC ballroom dance floor this year and joined his colleagues for the first day back at rehearsals.

Fans were quick to note the absence of two stars, Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima who have been at the centre of headling news recently, but all said the same thing about one dancer’s return. One fan commented: “We could waste our time gossiping about the people who don’t deserve to be there, or we could celebrate Amy’s return.” Another agreed and added: “So lovely to see @amy_dowden back with everyone.” A third wrote: “It’s lovely to see both Amy and Aljaz in the group photo!” However one fan wasn’t too optimistic and penned: “Feel like a light has been dimmed on Strictly recently so hoping the new series brings that sparkle back again.”

Amy is returning after a year out due to her breast cancer diagnosis. After undergoing treatment, Amy was told there was “no evidence of the disease” earlier this year. Meanwhile, Aljaz is returning after three years away and posted an update from the Strictly Come Dancing rehearsal space on Instagram, sharing with fans his enthusiasm for returning to the show, stating “First day back on Strictly. Wow. I love it. I’m so excited to dance again. I’m absolutely exhausted, it’s not even lunchtime yet, but I’m so happy to be dancing again. I can’t wait for the rest of it I can’t wait for lunch.” However, Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima were noticeably absent from rehearsals amidst a brewing scandal. It was previously announced by the BBC that Giovanni will not participate in this series following accusations of “inappropriate behaviour” during training with Amanda Abbington, allegations Giovanni fervently rejects.

BBC has initiated their own investigation following the surfacing of a video showing Graziano Di Prima engaging in negative conduct leading to his dismissal after his partner from last year Zara McDermott issued a complaint against him.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
