Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing’s Pete Wicks was in the hot seat after a controversial performance that prompted some calls for his “disqualification.” In Saturday’s show, Pete and Jowita performed to the classic tune Don’t Look Back In Anger, but their Rumba didn’t go down well with judge Craig Revel Horwood. Craig labelled their dance “illegal”, highlighting: “And as for the lifts, that is totally illegal.” He pointed out the rule breach saying, “There were two lifts. One foot should remain on the floor at all times. Of course, a professional would be marked down for that. I think even a disqualification darling, because I think you should follow the rules.”

Fellow judge Motsi Mabuse chimed in assuring there would be no disqualification. Craig also noted Pete’s dedication to the competition, adding: “I do like seeing how committed you are to this. I can see very clearly you have been studying and studying and studying.” In tonight’s episode of the BBC favourite, celebrities and their pro partners gave it their all to secure a spot for next week. Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe brought a Couple’s Choice routine to the stage, Punam Krishan and Gorka Marquez waltzed around the room, Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin picked up the pace with a Quickstep, Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola sizzled with a Samba, while Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec took a sharp turn with a Tango. In other Strictly news, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell are set to glide through a Waltz, while Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas will be striking a pose with a Pasodoble. JB Gill and Amy Dowden are ready to rock a Jive, as Paul Merson and Karen Hauer sizzle with a Samba. The week has been marred by controversy for Wynne and Katya following an “inside joke” that backfired spectacularly. A clip showing an interaction between Wynne and Katya sparked viral concern among fans, with some suggesting she appeared uncomfortable.

However, Katya was quick to clarify that she wasn’t uncomfortable and explained it was all part of a joke. An emotional Wynne expressed his devastation over the public’s reaction, saying on Monday: “I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day. It’s not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we’re really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke. It was a stupid joke that went wrong, OK? We thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. It has been totally misinterpreted.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
