Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing fans are convinced that Wynne Evans and Katya Jones have some serious tension between them after their latest performance. The duo had to say sorry following an “inside joke” that didn’t quite land. A clip showing Wynne with his hand on Katya’s waist, which she tried to remove only for him to place it there again, has been doing the rounds online, causing fans to worry. Wynne and Katya later came out with an apology, with Katya explaining: “I have to make this absolutely clear, that this whole incident with the hand and the high five on Saturday night, it was an inside joke between Wynne and I. Was it a silly joke, yes, was it a bad joke, yes.” On Monday, Wynne confessed he was “heartbroken” over the negative reaction they received.

He expressed: “I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day. It’s not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we’re really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke. It was a stupid joke that went wrong, OK? We thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. It has been totally misinterpreted.” Tonight was a significant night on the dance floor for Wynne and Katya as they delivered a Quickstep to Electric Light Orchestra’s Mr Blue Sky, marking their first live performance since the stir of last week’s scandal. Despite refuting claims that Katya seemed “uncomfortable” during their last pre-recorded appearance, tonight showcased them live after the buzz. The duo also featured in a pre-dance video which fans took to social media to dub as awkward with comments like: “Wins the award for the most awkward VT #strictly.”

Others chimed in with further critiques, “Wynne definitely lost some of his vibrancy in that VT #strictly,” and “Make the VT like you don’t hate each other #strictly,” while one declared: “this vt is far too much, VERY unnatural #strictly.” Another attempted optimism with: “WHOLESOME NON CONTROVERSIAL VT INCOMING #scd #strictly.”

Last week, fans also took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on the awkward incidents and the subsequent apology. One concerned viewer commented: “Sorry guys, how is that a joke? Ok the refusal to do the high five and the eye roll, yep get that, but the hand slowly moving across Katya’s stomach, and her moving it away and looking seriously uncomfortable? ?
