Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing fans believe they’ve predicted the winner of the 2024 series without the stars even having stepped onto the ballroom. The line-up for the next series was confirmed by BBC earlier this week (5th August), and amongst them is the man fans believe will be lifting the Glitterball trophy – Wynne Evans. Wynne, who most people recognise from the Go Compare adverts and for winning Celebrity MasterChef last year, has a background in performing arts. Wynne announced he was going to be taking part in the show on BBC Radio Two. He said: “I love the glitz, the glamour and all of that so I’m well up for it.”

Fans of the show took to the forum, Reddit, to write about their thoughts on this year’s Strictly celebrities. One wrote that Wynne is a “clear winner” and added “I think he’ll be surprisingly good, he’s a musician after all. “He’ll be better than people expect. He’s trained/experienced in musical theatre. Was brilliant in the Phantom of the Opera concert! This cast is great so far.”

Another remarked: “So so happy about this! I adore Wynne, he’s hilarious on his Radio Wales show. “I hope he’s not forced to miss too much of his show for training, I’ll miss him every day if so!” A third said: “Have a feeling he’s going to surprise us in a good way. Would love him to be paired with Dianne.”

Wynne will have to fight for his place on the dancefloor as he’s up against Chris McCausland, JB Gill, Toyah Willcox, Dr Punam Krishnan, Tasha Ghouri, Pete Wicks, Shayne Ward, Sarah Hadland, Tom Dean, Jamie Borthwick and Montell Douglas. There’s been a lot of secrecy around the celebrity line-up this year with Wynne also revealing during the interview with BBC Two that he was given a “code name” for the audition process. He also added: “The stuff I’m more nervous about is doing something like the jive because I represent every portly middle-aged father who jumps and could set a minor tsunami off in North London. I’m kind of a bit nervous about that, but I’m taking inspiration from Bill Bailey.”
