Privacy NoticeWynne Evans has revealed he is feeling ‘heartbroken’ after he found himself and his Strictly Come Dancing partner Katya Jones have been at the centre of controversy since this weekend’s live show when fans spotted several awkward moments between the dance partners. The duo appeared on Saturday’s live broadcast of the show, with all the couples standing together during one moment which saw Wynne moving his hand across Katya’s waist – to which she brushed his hand away. And elsewhere in the show, Wynne was seen lifting his hands up to high five Katya, which she ignored.

Despite the pair quickly taking to social media to assure it was a ‘joke’, many have been analysing the strange moment. In an attempt to set the record straight while speaking ahead radio show on BBC Radio Wales, Wynne said: “Basically, firstly I want to say I’m absolutely heartbroken about the things that are being said about me in the past day. It’s not nice to live in that time. “Katya and I are really really close and we’re really good friends and on Saturday night, we made a stupid joke that went wrong. We thought it was really funny. It has been totally misinterpreted.” He said later: “Everything is on Katya’s socials, she’s explained she doesn’t feel uncomfortable and we have a great friendship. I’m sorry if anybody was offended by it. It was a joke. There’s no real story really. I feel weird apologising as I don’t feel like I’ve done anything. I misjudged it. If there’s a joke, I’m usually at the centre of it. That’s basically it and now I just want to keep dancing,.”
Despite the drama, Wynne impressed the judges with his performance

Katya and Wynne performed a Tango to Abba’s Money Money Money. during the show, and the judges praised Wynne’s improvement for the second week running, reflected in an impressive score of 34 out of 40. Taking to Instagram after the show, the pair recorded a clip and explained the high five snub is a ‘running joke’. Katya said: “Hello everybody it’s Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry.” “It was a silly joke,” before Wynne added: “Yes, sorry”. The opera singer then wrote in the caption: “Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5’s is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
