Privacy Notice Fans of Strictly Come Dancing have taken to social media during this week’s live show, speculating that BBC bosses are plotting to get rid of one of the couples, because they were given the ‘death slot’ in the running order of the competition on Saturday 5 October. Regular viewers believe that the second dance of the night is cursed, with couples often going home after being the second couple on the dance floor, and on this week’s movie-themed show it was Toyah Willcox and her professional partner Neil Jones who danced the second dance of the evening. One fan wrote: “A Samba and Toyah is in the death spot. OH DEAR!” Another added: “Toyah has the death slot, seems like they want her to go now that she’s made it to Movie Week,” while a third said: “Toyah and Neil death slot oh it’s over for them.” A fourth commented: “Death slot. Samba. Neil. Iconic terrible trio,” while a fifth summed it up: “Samba and death slot. Bye Toyah!”

Toyah, 66, and Neil danced a samba routine to the song Poor Unfortunate Souls from the movie The Little Mermaid, and they scored four points from judges Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke, and just three from Craig Revel Horwood. Toyah’s husband, the musician and producer Robert Fripp, was in the audience and loudly booed when Craig gave out his score. Last week, the couple were in the bottom two dance-off, but it was swimmer Tom Dean and his partner Nadiya Bychkova who were sent home after the judges’ vote. Toyah, who is best known for her pop hits ‘It’s a Mystery’ and ‘Brave New World’ in the 1980s, has previously spoken about the surgery she underwent at the age of 51 to correct the length of her legs and how she had to learn to walk again afterwards. Talking about mastering the dance moves in rehearsals for the first live show, Toyah shared: “You have to twist your body – it’s all about pivoting, which is something I’ve avoided for about 30 years.” She candidly discussed the nitty-gritty of her practice sessions, confessing: “Obviously, there’s gonna be moves you give me that my body is just gonna go ‘stop now’.” Toyah then gave viewers a glimpse into her personal struggles at 51, sharing: “When I was 51, because I was born with one leg just under 2 inches longer than the other, I had corrective surgery to make my legs the same length, but then I had to learn to walk again.” Despite having battled a twisted spine and additional health issues, Toyah previously spoke of the life-altering surgery carried out in 2009, an operation the completely “reinvented” her. Toyah has also bravely undergone hip replacement surgery due to a painful inflammation in her right hip, which severely affected her mobility.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
