Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing have announced the third celerity confirmed for the 2024 series. The BBC show is in its 20th series this year and one more name was announced for the upcoming BBC show on Veron Kay’s Radio 2 show on Tuesday (August 6). DJ Vernon revealed that broadcaster, presenter, and professionally trained opera singer Wynne Evans has joined the line-up alongside other previously announced contestants including comedian Chris McCausland and JLS star JB Gill. He said: “I am honestly still pinching myself, a portly balding opera singer, me, taking part in Strictly Come Dancing?! I’m not entirely sure how I’ll get along, if all else fails I’ll just have to learn the art of distraction. “What I do know is I will give it my all and aim to make Wales proud. I’m definitely going to try and combine my love of Opera into one of my routines. Plus, after winning Celebrity MasterChef last year, maybe the route to the judges’ hearts will be through their stomachs!”

Strictly Come Dancing confirms first star as celebrity contestant for 2024 series
The first two contestants were confirmed on Monday (August 4) live on ITV’s This Morning with both Chris and JB chatting to hosts Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson about their exciting news. JB explained: “I did the Christmas special, it was great fun. I did the jive and I feel like it was probably the most similar dance to things that I will have done in JLS, but I do feel like a lot of the styles, particularly the ballroom styles, are particularly alien to me. I’m not a trained dancer, I didn’t go to stage school growing up so it’s going to be a learning curve.” Speaking about whether being in JLS might help him, he added: “I don’t think anybody is going to be prepared for the amount of time that is going to go into this, the rehearsals, tours and things like that, that I’ve done before, you know you’re learning a lot of different songs. But it’s going to be a different routine every single week, within three or four days, plus all the other stuff that’s going on.”

Elsewhere, comedian Chris was also confirmed as the first-ever blind contestant in the show’s history. He said: “This is literally the worst kept secret there has ever been in British television. “I think its been out there, it’s been exhausting keeping a secret everyone seems to know. I’m apprehensive, massively apprehensive. I don’t know what I’m getting myself into, I’ve never watched it, obviously. It’s just some music. I don’t dance, I have never danced. I grew up with headbanging and mosh pits.”
JLS singer JB Gill was announced as a second contestant for the new series
The suspense is still on for the celebrities eagerly anticipating to discover their professional dance partners. The professional lineup returning this year includes Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola. After a two-year break, Aljaz Skorjanec is making a comeback to the ballroom for the 20th anniversary of the nation’s favourite show. The BBC has announced that this year’s series will be particularly memorable as it marks its 20th birthday. A unique one-off programme will also be aired on BBC One and iPlayer, offering a trip down memory lane with 20 years of unforgettable entertainment, iconic performances, and heart-warming interviews with past celebrity stars, professional dancers, and judges.
