Privacy NoticePrince William, the Prince of Wales, showcased his down-to-earth side during an off-camera conversation with a YouTuber about everyday topics, like the challenges of parenting. In a heartwarming video from last year, Prince William invited the creators of YouTube’s Sorted Food to taste and critique innovative dishes from three Earthshot Prize winners. The group then served up an eco-friendly ‘Earthshot Burger’ from a food truck to surprised members of the public, with Prince William himself helping out. But it wasn’t all work for the royal; Jamie ‘Spaff’ Spafford from Sorted Foods shared a touching “special moment” they had with the prince when the cameras were turned off.

Jamie recalled: “For me, the most special moment of that was actually when we were in the van with him and the cameras weren’t there because they’d gone off to go and get you, and everyone else that was within the community, to start the surprise.”, reports the Express. He continued: “Kush really looked after him, made sure he wasn’t too hot, bottles of water, like keeping him really, really happy and then we just started having a chat.” “And I was like, so that’s my daughter. That’s Evie; she was actually really hoping that Prince George might be with you today. She knows that he comes with you on a fair few of these things, and he went, ‘Ahh’.”

Jamie added: “He turned into a dad. In that split second, he turned into a dad and was talking about the fact that it was a really busy week and that Prince George was doing exams, and so he was quite stressed. “And they’ve been doing revision in the evenings and that kind of thing, and for, like, five minutes of conversation, you weren’t talking to the world’s, like, most famous man. You were talking to a dad about normal things.” In 2023, Jamie said being joined by the prince in the food truck was a “real ‘pinch me’ moment”. He also explained that learning about “how passionate he is about helping the planet” was “incredibly inspiring”. In March, Prince William issued an urgent warning about climate change while attending an event in central London to promote this year’s Earthshot Prize. Speaking hours after Princess Kate issued an apology about editing a picture released for Mother’s Day, he said we are in a “critical decade” to set the planet on a “healthier” path. The Prince of Wales highlighted the importance of “supporting and developing” as many “solutions” as possible and to “scale them at speed”. William also said that he’d thought about how he wanted to contribute to the “collective global effort” in protecting the planet and decided he wanted to “mobilise the enormous power of innovators”. He said: “From businesses, cities and governments; to activists, scientists and innovators, the ideas and ambition to set our planet on a healthier path do already exist.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
