EastEnders fans were gobsmacked to discover that soap icon once dated TV host Stephen Mulhern Emma Barton, famed for her role as Honey Mitchell, joined the BBC One drama in 2005, and quickly won hearts as Billy Mitchell’s (played by Perry Fenwick) love interest. She has been at the forefront of major plots, including her struggle with an eating disorder and a surprising affair with younger man Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick). Recently, Honey and Billy’s wedding was marred by tragedy when an explosion in the Queen Vic claimed the life of Martin Fowler (James Bye). Yet, it’s Barton’s off-screen past with Stephen Mulhern, known for presenting Dancing on Ice and Catchphrase, that’s causing a stir among fans. The pair reportedly met during a 2008 pantomime production of Snow White, where Barton starred as the titular character and Mulhern played Muddles. Despite keeping their romance under wraps, they parted ways amicably in 2011.

Mulhern, also recognised for his work on Britain’s Got More Talent, has spoken about the relationship reaching a “natural end”. TV presenter Stephen Mulhern opened up about his challenges in the love department, admitting that his busy schedule has been a barrier to romance. In a candid chat with Celebs Now back in 2018, he shared, “Last time I went on a date was about four years ago. That makes me sound really sad! I need a life. I need to stop working so much.”, reports Plymouth Live.
