Stephen Mulhern had Dancing on Ice fans in stitches with a cheeky joke during Sunday night’s episode. The presenter, alongside his co-host Holly Willoughby, 43, introduced the remaining contestants and their upcoming performances. As they announced reality TV star Chris Taylor and his skating partner Robin Johnstone’s routine set to JVKE’s song Golden Hour, Stephen couldn’t resist making a playful quip. Holly said: “Right, it’s time for our next couple who are treating us to a golden hour.” To which Stephen, 47, responded: “A what? ” Holly clarified: “A golden hour. It’s the name of a song.” Stephen then joked: “Oh, phew! It’s Chris and Robin.” Laughter echoed throughout the studio, reports the Mirror. Fans quickly took to social media to share their thoughts on the joke. However, amidst the laughter, celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo’s name was brought up.

Gino is currently facing accusations of “distressing” and “sexually inappropriate” behaviour over several shows following an ITV News investigation. Allegedly, “dozens” of people have shared experiences described as “unacceptable,” “distressing” and “horrendous” while working with him over a period spanning more than 12 years. He has, however, firmly denied these allegations. Stephen’s cheeky quip on the latest episode of Dancing on Ice sparked quite the reaction online. One viewer tweeted their surprise: “With @ITV being in the midst of the Gino scandal, you’d think they’d be a bit more careful about golden shower jokes on a family show.” This prompted a flurry of responses, with one person clarifying: “He said golden hour.” But the original tweeter stood their ground, replying: “He joked that he’d misheard it as golden shower.” Another warned presenter Stephen Mulhern to be cautious, saying: “I said the same thing. Mulhern has better take care….”

The banter didn’t stop there; another fan expressed their shock at the risqué humour: “Stephen just tried to allude that the dance was about a ‘golden shower’ it was a joke…. How many did he offend at 18:30 on a Sunday night? @Ginofantastico #dancingonice.” They even labelled the joke as “smut” while engaging with another viewer. In a separate exchange, someone lamented the inappropriate timing of the joke: “But Steve made a very bad joke about it being a ‘golden shower’ it’s a Sunday evening, 6:30… we don’t need smut.” This was in response to a fan who had gushed over the song ‘Golden Hour’, associating it with fond memories of their mother and a desire for Chris’s outfit from the show. The critic wasn’t alone in their sentiments; another viewer was caught off guard by the quip, posting: “Wasn’t prepared for a golden shower joke at 6.34pm on a Sunday…” The sketch involving Stephen and his co-host Holly certainly left viewers talking after the weekend’s episode of the ITV skating show.
