Privacy NoticeHusband and wife team Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have become household names since rising to fame with their respective TV careers, and are now reportedly set to give fans an insight into their family life with a fly-on-the-wall reality show. While this will no doubt prove an instant hit with the couple’s adoring fans, the pair are being warned that opening their lives to the cameras could be a risky move – could this tarnish their squeaky-clean image? The couple have a blended family of six children and are parents to one-year-old baby Belle, Rose, two, and Rex, four – while Joe, 42, is stepfather to Stacey’s two older sons Leighton, 12, and Zachary, 16, and father to Harry, 16, from a previous relationship.

And as they prepare to fling open the doors of Pickle Cottage, an expert tells OK! why life on camera could have its pitfalls. “Opening your home to the world can be a risky move for any family. Having a camera crew following your every move can be very stressful – and a show like this puts you under public scrutiny,” says expert Lynn Carratt of Pressbox PR. According to reports, Stacey, 34, and Joe will show the ‘highs and lows of family life with a large brood’ at their £1.2M Essex home – which they have sweetly dubbed Pickle Cottage. “Stacey and Joe are such homebodies and love nothing more than spending time with their children,” a source claimed to OK!. “The series is set to be a huge hit, given the chaos that comes with a big family. Stacey and Joe will also not hold back when it comes to showing the highs and lows of family life. Fans can expect to see an unfiltered version of a busy household.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

And while the couple may be keen to show the realities of family life, PR expert Lynn explains that not everyone may be supportive. She says: “In today’s age of social media, people are quick to judge and make a comment online that can go far and wide. While Joe appears laid-back, sharing intimate details of their marriage could add a lot of pressure on the couple, who already have the stress of raising a young family.” Stacey and Joe began dating in 2016 and became husband and wife on the grounds of their own home in 2022. The couple often share updates on social media and are known for being open on their respective profiles, where their children feature heavily. The pair have also spent the last three years renovating their stunning home, meaning it will certainly be camera-ready. With Stacey fronting hit shows such as BBC’s Sort Your Life Out and balancing a busy work life schedule, she has previously shared that she struggles to find quality time to spend with Joe at home. This means a show from the comfort of that very home could give the couple a chance for some more time together.

She explained previously, “Poor Joe. I got in last night and I was like, ‘Hi babe’. He was like, ‘I don’t see you anymore’. I just leave at 6am in the morning every day and I don’t get back until about 9pm at night. I do feel bad because I think being home with the kids is sometimes harder than going to work, isn’t it?” Plenty of celebrities have dived into the world of reality TV before Stacey and Joe, and it’s proved quite the hit for many. “Over the years, these shows have been a platform for many to connect with the audience and further their careers,” Lynn explains. “The original family fly-on-the-wall show was ‘The Osbournes’ back in 2002 and viewers couldn’t get enough of them, making them a hit worldwide, particularly Sharon. “Similarly, Katie Price and Peter Andre’s reality show was a success in 2004. More recently, shows like The Family Diaries have been successful for individuals like Billie and Greg Shepard and Fern McCann’s Me and My Family. It’s clear that these shows have contributed to their success in various ways, including career opportunities and public perception.” But Lynn warns, “Sometimes they can wrong – Chloe Madeley and James Haskell split after their show Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair aired on ITV2.”

Incredibly open about their relationship, Stacey and Joe recently revealed that they no longer sleep in the same bed. Speaking on Celebrity Gogglebox, Joe said to his wife, “We used to have pillow talk, didn’t we?” Stacey replied: “We used to sleep in bed together, do you remember that? Before we had three kids in four years!” The pair went on to explain that Stacey sleeps in the kids’ beds – something which shocked some fans. One person who is no stranger to the small screen is our columnist Kerry Katona, who looks back on her reality show days fondly. However, she does have some advice for Stacey and Joe, as she admits that letting the cameras in is not for the faint-hearted – and can take its toll on a relationship. “Doing a show in your home is hard work. People think it’s easy, but it’s not – they’re in your space,” says Kerry. “It can affect a relationship – look at what happened to Katie Price and Peter Andre’s relationship after they had reality shows. But, you get your memories on camera forever, that’s what I love about it. It’s like a video album to keep and you just need to Google something to look back on it. Kerry adds, “My advice to Stacey and Joe is to be yourselves, that’s the only way it works. Let people see the real you.” We can’t wait to tune in…Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
