Privacy Notice Actor Jeff Gobbels is the latest contestant to sign up to Married At First Sight Australia, and fans have been taking to social media to complain that he is the third TV personality to be added to this year’s edition of the dating show. Jeff appeared in popular soap Neighbours in 2017, playing police officer Kurt Bridges, and he also acted in the mini series The Warriors and movies A Promise Carved in Flesh and The Whistleblower. He’s not the only personality who has joined the new series – The Bachelor’s Sierah Swepstone and fitness coach Paul Antoine, who appeared on The Real Love Boat, will also be taking part. Jeff has already filmed his wedding, and he is matched with bride Rhi Disljenkovic, who was the first cast member confirmed for the new 2025 season. Other contestants who have been announced include self-described ‘TikTok tradie’ and bodybuilder Dave Thomas and mother of two Morena Farina. Fans, however, are not thrilled about the inclusion of Jeff, Sierah and Paul who they believe have been chosen over ‘regular’ Australians and have taken to social media to protest.

“I’m so done with MAFS. Bringing in people like Paul and Sierah just shows how desperate they are for ratings. Boycotting this season for sure,” wrote one viewer, while another added: “MAFS has lost its authenticity. It’s supposed to be about genuine people finding love, not giving more airtime to people who are already famous.” “Why can’t they find people that genuinely want to find a partner. Not someone that’s after social media fame. So over seeing all these people that are just social climbers,” said a third. The Australian version of the series began in 2015 and has scored some romantic successes over the years as experts John Aiken, Mel Schilling and Alessandra Rampolla played matchmaker and watched and gave advice as couples who met on their wedding day attempted to form lasting relationships. Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant were matched in 2018 and are expecting their second child together, Melissa and Bryce from series eight have twin sons, and Kerry and Johnny from the same series officially married last year. Martha and Michael from series six are also still a couple and had their first child in February 2023. Meanwhile controversial 2024 couple Jack Dunkley and Tori Adams recently took to social media to confirm they had moved in together.
