Privacy NoticeAcclaimed soap actress Esta TerBlanche has been found dead at the age of 51 – weeks after teasing a return to TV. The star’s death, which is now under investigation, comes after she announced that a return to the small screen was “definitely something I would like to get back into”. Her family said Esta – who appeared in long-running hit All My Children – died unexpectedly in her Hollywood home, according to TMZ. She played Gillian Andrassy in the drama, which was so popular that at one time it was the most widely recorded television show in the US.

Medical personnel are reported to believe that she had been dead since the day before her body was found. Her death was confirmed by her manager Annie Spoliansky yesterday in a statement to People. It read: “We are deeply saddened by this news. As for a personal statement, I’d like to say that Esta was such a kind, loving, giving, and caring person. She cared so deeply for all people and animals. “She had squirrels she fed and looked after daily, her two cats and recent kittens that she cared for as her own children.” “Esta was never anything but generous and lovely to me, and I’m grateful to have known her for the time that I did, and devastated to learn of her passing.” Her publicist Lisa Rodrigo added: “I am heartbroken upon learning about Esta’s death. She was and always will be a beautiful soul who I will miss every day. I am proud to have known her and call her not only a client but a friend.” Before her death the star, who played a Hungarian princess on the soap from 1997 to 2001, had hinted at a return to acting on daytime TV. Despite being killed off on All My Children, she returned as Gillian’s ghost during its final weeks on air after US network ABC announced in 2011 that the series was being cancelled after 41 years on air. An account for fans of the show paid tribute to Esta posting a picture of her with her on-screen love Cameron Mathison and a message that read: “Rest in Peace Esta TerBlanche. Thank you for entertaining us with your beautiful and captivating performance.” It added, in a reference to her role on the soap: “We will miss you, Princess.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
