Privacy NoticeRyan Gosling has won numerous awards throughout his acting career, and he’s now finally been nominated for an Emmy Award. However, he hasn’t been nominated for one of his hit films – instead it is for his role in a Saturday Night Live episode. Following the hit Beavis and Butt-Head sketch in April, in which Ryan, 43, starred as Beavis, he has been nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category at this year’s Emmys. He is up against Jon Bernthal, Matthew Broderick, Christopher Lloyd, Bob Odenkirk and Will Poulter. The sketch featured in SNL’s 49th season, in an episode that proved hugely memorable and was a hit with fans. Ryan was on SNL mainly to promote The Fall Guy, in which he stars alongside Emily Blunt.

In one of the episode’s sketches, Ryan jokingly wished farewell to his Barbie character Ken, comparing it to a break-up. He then sang Taylor Swift’s break-up anthem, All Too Well. Actress Emily, 41, then gate-crashed Ryan’s performance and proceeded to slam him for not promoting The Fall Guy instead. However, she then joined him to finish the song as a duet. Taylor Swift even acknowledge the pair’s efforts afterwards, as she wrote on X: “All Too Well (Ryan and Emily’s Version) !!! Watch me accidentally catch myself singing this version on tour. This monologue is EVERYTHING.” Ryan and SNL star Mikey Day then teamed up to portray Beavis and Butt-Head. The pair acted out a scene where they attend a boring talk show on artificial intelligence. Ryan and Mikey’s costumes left the audience and their co-stars in hysterics. Following the success of the sketch, Ryan and Mikey dressed up as Beavis and Butt-Head on the red carpet at the premiere of The Fall Guy a few weeks later.

During his acting career so far, Ryan has won a Golden Globe Award, and has received nominations for three Academy Awards and two British Academy Film Awards. He’s been nominated at the Golden Globes on six occasions as well as the Screen Actors Guild Awards. In total, he’s been nominated for 107 awards since rising to fame as a teenager, having won 40 awards overall. Ryan’s roles in films such as Barbie, La La Land, Lars and the Real Girl (2007), Blue Valentine (2010), The Ides of March, and Crazy, Stupid, Love, have all won him award nominations.
