Privacy NoticeSaturday Kitchen’s Matt Tebbutt has been opening up about his personal life, revealing that his marriage to wife Lisa has had its rocky moments. Chatting on the Grilled by The Staff Canteen podcast with Anna Haugh in 2023, the 50 year old chef got real about his relationship. Matt explained: “Currently 23 years, it’ll be 24 this year. Well done me, go me. Sometimes it’s touch and go let’s be honest, but so far we’re still here.” In a juicy bit of gossip, he also let slip that he used to date his wife’s sister before they got together. Then, when discussing his diet, Matt said he isn’t all about the meat. He confessed to being “veggie curious” and shared how he could see himself skipping the steak more often.

He explained: “I could easily go vegetarian I think, not easily because I’d miss wobbly pork bellies and Chinese hot pots and things like that. I’m eating more and more vegetarian food. I’d love to be in a place where you could just eat great quality meat. Very often I’ll go for veggie food because you just feel a lot better later on that day.” But don’t expect him to ditch dairy and eggs anytime soon going vegan is “never going to happen” for Matt, reports the Mirror.

On a more sombre note, Matt recently opened up to the Mirror about the loss of several friends over the past few years, having had the sad duty of delivering multiple obituaries for fellow chefs. Matt shared his experiences with loss on the show, saying: “Sadly, in the eight years I’ve been doing, we’ve lost about seven people. I’ve done seven different obituaries for various chefs, and that’s a hard one. You can practice and practice, and then you do it, and then during the live [show], something happens.” “And you feel your voice gets shallow and shallower, and so it’s a hard one to do. So that’s always been tough. I always get on edge.” He also touched on the importance of language on live TV and the advice he’s been given: “You get so relaxed you forget you’re on live TV. But a BBC commissioner once said ‘Remember who you’re talking to. You wouldn’t go around to that little old lady’s house and say a swear word, so you don’t do it on TV’.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
