Privacy NoticeThe devoted followers of Saturday Kitchen were left confused this week when BBC Two decided to air a highlights reel instead of the live show. The decision upset many fans who expressed their disappointment online. This change in programming is part of a larger reshuffle made to accommodate the extensive coverage of the Paris Olympics that will take up most of the summer schedule. Earlier on Saturday, even BBC Breakfast saw shorter airtime as hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty had to step aside for the Olympic swimming events. Instead of the usual live cooking, Saturday Kitchen aired Tastiest Treats, a montage of standout recipes from previous shows featuring celebrity chefs like Gennaro Contaldo, Nisha Katona, and Yotam Ottolenghi.

Despite efforts to pump up the crowd, with the official Twitter account posting: “Saturday Kitchen’s Tastiest Treats tomorrow at 10AM on @BBCTwo! We asked for YOUR all-time favourite dishes and you didn’t disappoint!” viewers were not happy with the programming change, reports Wales Online. One disgruntled viewer responded to the post: “Or another chance to show more REPEATS this program really is going downhill fast and no brakes.” Adding to the chorus of unhappy voices was another user who threw in a gif saying: “Do it live!” One unhappy viewer likened the show to a “A cross between bbcbreakfast and that b****y awful Saturday Kitchen. “Just what every sport lover needs. A blockbuster start from the BBC.”
