Privacy NoticeThe royals may be surrounded by the most sumptuous banquets, yet when it comes to their personal tastes, they’re much like us with simpler favourites. For instance, Queen Camilla is said to kick off her day with a wholesome bowl of porridge drizzled with honey while down-to-earth brothers Princes William and Harry can’t resist a tasty slice of pizza. The beloved late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip even enjoyed plain cereals for breakfast, according to reports, showcasing their modest preferences. Meanwhile King Charles, who has often foregoing lunch in years gone by, now savours a nutritious half an avocado to fuel his afternoons. From classic fish and chips to chicken broth, the Royal family’s palate certainly includes traditional British comfort foods. Let’s take a look…

The eating habits of the royals have been much discussed over the years

Breakfast Food critic and author Tom Parker Bowles discussed the details on BBC Breakfast and opened up on how the royals begin their day. Pouring over his own mum’s preference, Tom let slip that Queen Camilla is all about that heartwarming porridge life, especially on nippy winter mornings, perfected with a splash of homemade honey sourced straight from her bees. When pressed if there was a secret to this Royal breakfast, Tom said: “Nope, it’s just good old fashioned porridge made with milk and cream and a bit of honey,” reports the Mirror. Lunch Elsewhere King Charles has been a long-time skipper of lunch, but according to reports he’s now munching on avocados to keep his energy levels up. A source told MailOnline: “With some reluctance, he now has something to eat at lunchtime – a snack, really. He now eats half an avocado to sustain him through the day. It’s important, particularly if you have got an illness.” Sign up to OK’s royal newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

While Charles enjoys his trendy snack, Camilla is reportedly a fan of traditional chicken broth or smoked salmon. The late Queen Elizabeth was known for her love of afternoon tea, and it seems that tradition continues with Charles and Camilla, who often treat themselves to a selection of dainty sandwiches and potted shrimp at 5pm in one of the Royal estates. When it comes to dinner, Prince William is said to fancy a classic roast chicken, while he and Kate also indulge in takeaways, with Indian and Chinese being their favourites. In a candid chat with BBC Radio 1’s Scott Mills back in 2017, they shared that they’re “absolutely” allowed to order in, with Kate confessing her love for “curry, definitely”, and William jokingly admitting he’s “not so good with spice”. And during another sweet chat at Lavender Primary School, Kate disclosed to Matthew Kleiner-Mann that her little ones are budding chefs already. He shared: “She was telling us how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her. They made cheesy pasta the other day. One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in. And they make salads and stuff.” Meanwhile, Queen Camilla might have Royal chefs at her beck and call, but she still has a soft spot for the classic British takeout. In a candid conversation with her son Tom Parker Bowles for YOU Magazine, Camilla couldn’t help but express her love for a certain greasy delight. “Freshly cooked fish and chips, wrapped in paper. That smell. You cannot beat proper fish and chips,” she said. As recounted by former Royal chef Darren McGrady, Prince William and Harry were pizza lovers growing up. “I didn’t start really cooking pizzas until I moved to Kensington Palace. William and Harry would have had it every night if Nanny had let them. They loved it,” he told MailOnline.

Dessert and snacks Kate, known for her healthy lifestyle, has a soft spot for sticky toffee pudding but usually opts for fruits like goji berries and papaya. “I used to eat lots and lots of olives when I was little as well,” she told a child at Great Ormond Street in 2018. Not just that, back in 2014, Kate and William were seen enjoying popcorn together during their Canadian tour. And let’s not forget the Queen’s favourite: chocolate biscuit cake. Her former private chef Darren McGrady told Hello! magazine: “She is absolutely a chocoholic. Anything we put on the menu that had chocolate on, she would choose, especially chocolate perfection pie.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
