Privacy NoticeRobert Pattinson of The Batman fame and Dune’s star Zendaya are set to take the lead in Dream Scenario director Kristoffer Borgli’s upcoming A24 film, The Drama. According to Deadline, the plot revolves around a romance that takes an unexpected twist just before the couple’s wedding day. Borgli is the brains behind the screenplay, while Midsommar’s Ari Aster will produce through his Square Peg banner. Before this, Pattinson has another project lined up – a sci-fi flick titled Mickey 17, slated for release next January. In this, he plays an ‘expendable’ character who joins a mission to colonise the icy planet Niflheim.

When one version of Mickey dies, another comes to life. The film also stars Mark Ruffalo, Steven Yeun and Toni Collette, with Oscar-winner Bong Joon-ho at the helm. Returning to Borgli, his breakthrough project Dream Scenario (released in 2023) starred the unpredictable Nicolas Cage as college professor Paul Matthews, who mysteriously begins appearing in people’s dreams. Speaking to GQ, the filmmaker said: “I was writing it at the beginning of 2020, at the same time as there was a global pandemic ramping up, which felt uncanny and strange because I was writing about a dream pandemic,” He added: “I was thinking about massive cultural response to a phenomenon, and here it was, happening at the same time, in a very physical way.”, reports the Mirror. Regarding Cage’s participation, Borgli stated it “become undeniable” that he was “best-suited” to portray the main character.

The director gushed about Cage’s versatility for his upcoming movie, highlighting: “The movie requires many versions of the character: the real-life version of him, and the many different ways that he is portrayed in dreams. So I needed someone with that range, which Nicolas Cage definitely has. “But on top of that, there’s almost an allegorical value to the script that talks about Nick Cage and his image in the modern world. How he’s been meme-ified and turned into this mythical icon, and has ups and downs of loving and hating fame, and fame haunting him.” The Drama does not yet have a release date.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
