They are said to have been in a ‘Disney romance’ during their two-year relationship, but were ‘under public scrutiny’. Speaking of their split, a source told The Sun: “It’s heartbreaking. Kai and Nadiya seemed like the most perfect couple and have been so, so blissfully in love. But the pressures of touring – being in each other’s space 24/7, and the stress of performing a sell-out show eventually took its toll.” The source said Kai, 28, and Nadiya, 34 “sat down together” and made the decision to end their relationship. “They remain incredibly close and are determined their split will not have any impact on the next series of Strictly – they remain consummate professionals, and nothing will change that”, the source added.

Following news of their reported split, a family and relationship expert has outlined their ‘Disney romance’ and what could have caused their breakup. Speaking to OK!, Tina Wilson, who is also the founder of the Wingman App, told us: “Any relationship relies on timing and circumstances to be successful. Whilst a couple may love each other, it’s not always enough to make it work.” She continued: “This couple have been under public scrutiny since their relationship began and their plans of marriage and children in a beautiful magazine setting seemed almost like a Disney romance. But it’s very easy to get caught up in a fantasy. “Successful relationships have to withstand the good, bad and tough aspects of life, and as you navigate these hurdles, it can make or break a relationship. Whilst Strictly has a history of suspected curses, this may not be the traditional case of one of them falling in love with someone else, rather just not being the right time for them to make this work, and the realisation that they are not right for each other.”
