Privacy NoticeEdith Bowman has revealed the secret behind her recovery after surgery, and it’s a technique that can be used for other conditions too. The Scottish radio presenter, who started her career on TV reading the news on MTV and hosting Channel 4’s morning music channel RI:SE, later had her own show on BBC Radio 1. She tied the knot with Editors frontman Tom Smith in 2013. More recently, Edith has been sharing more personal content on social media, including posts about lifestyle, health, parenting, and her love of skincare treatments. The 50 year old star took to Instagram to share how she uses acupuncture to boost her health and well-being. She posted a rather graphic photo of herself with needles inserted into various points on her face.

Another snap shows her under a lamp, with the acupuncture needles still in her skin. It’s believed that combining acupuncture with heat or UVB light therapy can help increase blood flow in affected areas, which can enhance the effectiveness of traditional acupuncture, reports the Mirror. Edith was full of praise for her acupuncture sessions in her caption, saying: “I can’t explain how much I get from my acupuncture sessions with @m.c.martinacu. I don’t get to see her as often as I would like, I think May was the last time I had my last session. Acupuncture is such a wonderful treatment that has helped me with so many things, from hay fever to recovery from surgery to just resetting my brain and system. You can’t see the numerous other needles that are all over my body. “She can read what you need and nothing makes me feel like I do after one of her sessions. Thank you, Magic Maggie, you are a special gift to me and the world.”

Fans shared their curiosity on Edith’s post. One enquired about its benefits for hay fever: “Helps with hay fever? I’m sold, do you have to get it just before or during hayfever season.” Others were baffled by the image she shared: “What on EARTH is that an image of??”

A third fan expressed their own positive experiences: “I also have acupuncture regularly and it’s astonishing how fabulous you feel after – it’s helped with grief, sleep, restless legs and also I’ve recently had facial acupuncture sessions to stimulate collagen production – can’t recommend it enough.” Another commenter related to Edith’s sentiment: “I LOVE acupuncture and cupping which I have for both pain management, sleep and stress management.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for freeStory SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
