The monarch couldn’t help but make a light-hearted comment on her own height, as remembered by the diver. Managing to sneak in a joke, she mused about giving gymnastics a shot. While on the Swedish chat show Skavlan, Daley revealed: “She commented on her height compared to some of the other athletes in the room and because me and the other athletes were quite small, she said, ‘Maybe I should try gymnastics’. She was fully game to get involved in the sport.”

Daley, who’s represented us at the past four summer Olympics and emerged victorious in Tokyo, engaged in this humorous exchange with the Queen back in 2016, reports the Express. A year later, the Queen expressed her love for gymnastics while awarding the six-time Olympic medallist Max Whitlock. The artistic gymnastic champion reported the Queen telling him she “loved watching the gymnastics because the stuff that we do doesn’t seem possible”. Speaking after his investiture ceremony, he added: “It was pretty cool to hear the Queen say she likes the sport.” Known to be a sports enthusiast, Queen has a particular fondness for the Olympic Games.

In a memorable moment from 2012, she even participated in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, featuring in a skit alongside Daniel Craig’s James Bond. In 2016, she showed her support for Prince Harry’s Invictus Games by participating in a hilarious video response to the Obamas ahead of the tournament in Orlando, Florida. However, when it comes to sports, the Queen was best known for her passion for horses and horse racing. The monarch herself was an accomplished horse rider and has been snapped enjoying a ride in Windsor Great Park on her favourite horse even during the first national lockdown.

The Queen made history during her illustrious career when she was inducted into the official hall of fame for British flat racing, a tribute to her dedication, support and love for the sport. Her racing manager, John Warren, said last month that this recognition would bring a “lot of inner pride” to the sovereign.
